Ghost Mode Protocol
The Ghost Mode architecture is the defining feature of the Room 39 ecosystem. It addresses a critical flaw in standard secure messengers (like Signal or Telegram): Plausible Deniability.
If an adversary sees a "Secure Chat" app icon on your phone, they know you have secrets. Room 39 eliminates this vector by disguising the entire application interface as a functional scientific calculator.
How It Works
1. The Camouflage Layer
Upon launching the application, the user is presented with a standard calculator interface. * Math Functions: The calculator performs actual mathematical operations (sin, cos, tan, log) to pass casual inspection. * Stealth Launch: There are no "Login" buttons, no "Chat" icons, and no branding indicating a messenger.
2. Accessing the Terminal
To bridge the gap between the public camouflage and the secure vault:
1. Enter your pre-configured Ghost PIN (e.g., 8822).
2. Press the Equal (=) key or the specific unlock biometric trigger.
3. The interface instantly decrypts the secure messenger overlay.
Setup Instructions
When initializing your account for the first time, you will be asked to define your security parameters.
Security Notice
Do not use simple PINs like 1234 or 0000. While the app allows it, these are the first combinations an adversary will try during a manual inspection.
- Navigate to Settings: Inside the secure terminal, go to Privacy & Security.
- Select Ghost Mode: Toggle the switch to
Active. - Set PIN: Enter a 4-8 digit numeric code.
- Verify: Confirm the PIN.
Behavioral Security
For maximum security, we recommend occasionally using the calculator for actual math operations. This populates the app's cache with "normal" usage data, further confusing forensic analysis tools that look for app activity patterns.
